Darren Kauffman was in a very serious car accident early this morning. Darren is currently in intensive care at Maryland's Washington County Hospital. Darren's injuries are extensive. Darren's mother informed us this morning that he has a broken collarbone, a broken wrist, seven broken ribs w/ a collapsed lung, and five broken vertebrae. The Doctor's will evaluate Darren tomorrow and schedule surgery for sometime early this week. All of us here in Greencastle along with Darren and his family thank everyone for their phone calls and support. Please continue to keep this great athlete and amazing friend in your thoughts and prayers. We will keep everyone informed with D's progress. All our thoughts are with you D.
Please pray for him in this time of need. He needs all the support he can get right now!!

They say if more then 2 people come together in prayer then that prayer will be answered. Let's all try to come together tonight and bow are heads in prayer at 8:00 pm and say a prayer for Darren Kauffman. He needs us and I have faith the lord can do anything!!!
All Speed Skaters please pass this on so everyone knows what we are all doing. Lets show our support for Darren just like he would do for us. Pass this along and make sure we all bow our heads at 8:00 pm tonight no matter where you are...at your house, at the mall, at practice, out side playing, etc.... just make sure you show your support for Darren and pray even if you didn't know him that well.

We have Darren in our prayers. He is an incredible person and I hope he knows his skating family is behind him 110%. We will continue to pray for Darren, but we will also have Faith in him and God's will to bring Darren back to good health. Darren is one of the most determined skaters I've ever had the pleasure of watching and I'm sure that determination will bring him through this as well. We will pray for Darren every night at 8:00 pm, but we will also pray for him every chance I get. Because he deserves at least that. Please keep us posted on Darren. Our hearts and prayers will remain with him.
Sincerely, Traci Paterson

Darren is being moved today from Hagerstown Md. to a rehab facility in King Of Prussia Pa. We all hope the best for Darren and that the rehab is a succes. All of us who know Darren, know how much of a worker and competitor he is. And we all have faith that this young man will make a tremendous recovery. Darren we are with you every "step" of the way. We love you bro.
